The life support system creates a liveable, Earth-like environment in the crew compartment of the Orbiter. It maintains the cabin pressure, temperature and humidity. The atmosphere revitalization system (ARS) makes sure that there is always fresh air in the crew compartment for the astronauts to breathe.
